...non union companies are more interested in how big they can grow their "bottom line" - they will spend inordinant amounts of money to keep their employees from organizing rather than take that same amount of money to treat their employees right...
...bargaining is not a one side winning / one side losing scenario - it is about compromise and working together for the greater cause... when one side vehemently fights to make sure the other side loses, then no one wins and many people will suffer as a result...
current union members - be they private or public - are not stupid... they are hard working people who want what is best for themselves and what will work for their employer - can you say "compromise"? - I knew you could...
...non-union workers enjoy the fruits of all the labor strife that union workers went through to win - 40hr work week / benefits / a decent salary to raise a family on... those rights are now being denegrated by those in power who follow in the footsteps of those from long ago who fought to keep people from organizing to collectively bargain for a better life - they wanted all the wealth for themselves, not the worker whose labor grew the bottom line for their employer...
...to go back to the employment conditions pre-unions is to take many steps backward and give up all that was won by unions...
